Slate — Privacy Policy

Slate does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data. There is no account, no analytics,

no telemetry, no advertising, and no third-party SDK that reports on you.

What Slate stores, and where

Everything stays on your Mac.

Your tasks, lists, and notes are saved to a single file inside Slate's own application

container. Nothing is uploaded.

Your settings (template, palette, pattern, font, layout) are stored in macOS user

defaults, on your Mac.

The wallpaper images Slate generates are written to Slate's own folder and set as your

desktop picture. Older ones are deleted automatically.

Deleting Slate removes the app; you can delete its data folder to remove everything it saved.

The Reminders mirror is off by default. If you turn it on, macOS asks your permission first.

When enabled, Slate reads your reminders in order to show them, and writes back exactly two

things when you act on them in Slate: whether a reminder is completed, and its due date. It

never creates, renames, or deletes reminders, and it never copies them off your Mac — your

reminders are read from and written to Apple's own local Reminders database, which syncs through

your iCloud account under Apple's privacy policy, not Slate's.

You can revoke this permission at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Reminders.

Showing your schedule on the wallpaper is off by default. If you turn it on, macOS asks your

permission first.

Slate's calendar access is read-only. It reads the titles and times of today's events so it

can draw them, and it never creates, edits, moves or deletes anything in your calendar. It has no

write access to request.

This works through the calendars your Mac already has, whichever account they come from — iCloud,

Google, Exchange or any other. Slate does not connect to Google or to any calendar provider

itself, has no account with any of them, and makes no network requests: it reads only Apple's

local calendar database on your Mac. Your accounts stay entirely between macOS and your provider,

under their privacy policies, not Slate's.

You can revoke this permission at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars.

The one-time unlock is processed by Apple. Slate asks Apple whether a purchase exists and

receives a yes or no. Slate never sees your payment details, and no purchase information is sent

anywhere other than Apple. Apple's handling of that transaction is covered by Apple's privacy

policy.

Slate makes no network requests of its own. The only network traffic it causes is Apple's own

App Store communication when checking or making a purchase.

Slate is a to-do list and is suitable for all ages. It collects nothing from anyone.

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be published here with a new date.
